Phyllis is a native of Mississippi. She and her husband William Usher purchased the Usher Funeral Home in 1984. Together they operated the funeral home until Bill’s passing in 1993. Phyllis takes great pride in continuing the Usher Family Legacy of compassionate service to families of Indianapolis.
Phyllis is also a retired educator having worked for the Indiana Dept. of Education for over 30 years. She is the current Chairperson and a member of the Board of Directors of Fairbanks Hospital. She also has served as President and is a member of the Board of Directors for Hawthorne Community Center.
Steve is a Licensed Funeral Director who began his career in funeral service at the White-Love Funeral Home in Chesterton, Indiana. He joined the staff at the Usher Funeral Home in 1991 when he was hired by Bill and Phyllis Usher.
Steve is a native of Lawrenceville, Illinois and is a graduate of Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. He and his wife Jennifer are parents of four sons, Patrick, Matt, Conner and Evan.
Maria joined the staff of the Usher Funeral Home in 2000. She is vital in our funeral home’s service to the growing Hispanic Community in Indianapolis. Maria is a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church where she serves as a Eucharistic Minister.
Maria was born in Mexico and has four children, Emmanuel, Carlos, Maria and William.
Mickaela is a native of Martinsville, Indiana. She is a graduate of the Ivy Tech Mortuary Science Program and is currently serving as our Funeral Director Intern. Her hobbies include singing and playing music, creating art, attending concerts, travelling, and trying new things. Some of Mickaela's areas of focus are Mental Health Awareness, Suicide Prevention, Animal Rights, and Environmental Conservation.
Ann has been with the Usher Funeral Home for many years. In addition to her duties as staff receptionist she also serves as the organist for families who choose organ music as part of their funeral services. Ann and her husband Joe have four children, John, Dan, Millie and Bob and four grandchildren, Danielle, Colton, Lucas and Lexie. Ann is a volunteer at St. Vincent Hospital and an active member at St. Anthony Catholic Church.
George has a long history with the Usher Funeral Home. His grandfather, George W. Usher founded the firm and his father Frank E. Johns was a long time funeral director at the funeral home. George assists the staff in directing funeral services and visitations.
George and his wife Jeanne have three children, Heather, Kelly and George Jr., and four grandchildren.
Sharon has been affiliated with the Usher Funeral Home for many years. She assists families with their many needs during visitations and services. She also has worked as our staff hairdresser for over 25 years. Sharon and her Husband Tom are both retired and enjoy spending time with their children and grandchildren.
