Phyllis Usher

Owner and President

Phyllis is a native of Mississippi.  She and her husband William Usher purchased the Usher Funeral Home in 1984.  Together they operated the funeral home until Bill’s passing in 1993.  Phyllis takes great pride in continuing the Usher family legacy of compassionate service to families of Indianapolis. 

Phyllis is a retired educator having worked for the Indiana Dept. of Education for over 30 years.  She is the former Chairperson and a former member of the Board of Directors of Fairbanks Hospital. She also formerly had served as the President of the Hawthorne Community Center.  She was also a long time member of the board for the Hawthorne Center.

Steve Tiffany

Manager

Steve is a Licensed Funeral Director who began his career in funeral service at the White-Love Funeral Home in Chesterton, Indiana.  He joined the staff at the Usher Funeral Home in 1991 when he was hired by Bill and Phyllis Usher. 

Steve is a native of Lawrenceville, Illinois and is a graduate of Southern Illinois University in Carbondale.  He and his wife Jennifer are parents of four sons, Patrick, Matt, Conner and Evan.

Maria Ruiz

Family Service Representative

Maria joined the staff of the Usher Funeral Home in 2000.  She is vital in our funeral home’s service to the growing Hispanic Community in Indianapolis.  Maria is a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church where she serves as a Eucharistic Minister. 

Maria was born in Mexico and has four children, Emmanuel, Carlos, Maria and William.

Ann Bordenkecher

Receptionist

Ann has been with the Usher Funeral Home for many years.  In addition to her duties as staff receptionist she also serves as the organist for families who choose organ music as part of their funeral services.  Ann and her late husband Joe have four children, John, Dan, Millie and Bob and five grandchildren, Danielle, Colton, Lucas, Lexie and Harper.  Ann is a volunteer at St. Vincent Hospital and an active member at St. Anthony Catholic Church.

Taylor Louie

Licensed Funeral Director

Taylor joined our funeral home in November of 2025.  She is a graduate of the Mid America College of Funeral Service and has been a licensed funeral director since 2024.
