Susan Skelton, 81 of Indianapolis (formerly of Detroit, MI) passed away on June 8, 2021. She was born on May 28, 1940 to William and Emily (Greenbaum) Skelton who preceded her in death. She graduated from Cooley High School, Detroit, MI in 1958 and received an Associates Degree from University of Detroit in 1962. She was employed by Detroit Bank and Trust and retired from American Fletcher National Bank/Bank One/Chase Bank after a career of 27 years. In retirement she worked part time at Wheatley’s as a hostess for the famous ‘Friday Fish Fry’ and as Funeral Service Ambassador at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Home, Indianapolis. She was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church in Wanamaker IN and the Franklin Township Historical Society. She was a volunteer at the Altenheim Community Senior Center, the Indiana Historical Society and the ‘Franklin Township Informer’ newspaper. She is survived by brothers, William (Shirley) Skelton of Richmond, MI, Thomas (Pati) Skelton of Virginia Beach, VA.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Acton United Methodist Church, 5650 Senour Rd., Indianapolis, IN 46239, with a luncheon to follow.
A private family burial will be at Croys Creek Cemetery, Putnam County, IN, at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to each donor’s own favorite charity.
