Sandra “Sandy” Hohlweg passed from this world, Tuesday, July 16th, 2024
Sandy was born in Indianapolis on June 11th, 1952. She was the only surviving child of Maxine and Charles Hohlweg, who preceded her in death.
Sandy graduated from Washington High School in 1970. She earned her BS in Psychology from Purdue (IUPUI) in 1981 and later earned a Public Management Certificate from the I.U. school of Public and Environmental Affairs.
In 1994, Sandy began working for the City of Indianapolis in the Planning Department. Sandy started as a Permit technician, became a residential building Inspector and earned her position of Building Plans Inspector in 2006. Over her many years working for the city, including two from the mayors of Indianapolis. She retired in 2016.
In addition to working full time, Sandy volunteered. She helped at the Cheer Guild of IU Medical Center, the National Spinal Cord Injury Association of Central Indiana, National Wheelchair Athletic Association and loved volunteering with the Handi-Capable Camp at Bradford Woods for many years. She displayed the spirit of serving others.
She is survived by her life-long friend, James, “Jim” Gibson and his siblings & family. Sandy was a member of Plainfield Friends Monthly Meeting (Quaker), in Plainfield Indiana.
A memorial service honoring her life will be held at Plainfield Friends Meeting House (church) 105 South East Street, Plainfield Indiana on, August 3rd, visitation at 10:30 am, Service at 11:30 am. Lunch will be served after the service.
