Sally Ann (Williams) Hillman, 85 of Indianapolis passed away June 7, 2025, at Hooverwood Living. She was born December 7, 1939, to John Robert and Jessie Jeannette (Wilson) Williams who have preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Alonzo William Hillman and her siblings, John and Tom. Sally had worked as a telephone operator for Indiana Bell for many years. She had also owned and operated an apple dumpling and ice cream truck with her sisters. Sally is survived by son, James William Hillman; daughter, Donna J. (Jack) Richardson; 8 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, sisters Susan and Margaret,.
Sally loved adventure. From working alongside her sisters selling Ice Cream and apple dumplings, traveling around the world hiking, kayaking, exploring and even repelling. Sally lived a life philosophy of “staying one step ahead of the fear”. At both Lincoln Lodge and Hooverwood she never turned down an activity, she might like it or hate it, but she was not going to be afraid to try it. Painting, church service, chair activities, movies…you name it…she was there.
She was the most kind, caring and accepting person on the planet. And she had a deep love for her family. She enjoyed visiting with all her grandkids, and great grandchildren. She wasn’t about to be outdone by anyone, especially her grandkids. She had so many experiences travelling, things she would have never attempted without the support and encouragement from family. Her love for life, fearless adventure, and dedication to her faith was an example of a life well lived.
Visitation for Sally is on Thursday, June 12, 2025, from 3pm-5pm at the Usher Funeral Home. A remembrance service will be held at 5pm Thursday, June 12, 2025, at the Usher Funeral Home. Online condolences may be offered at usherfuneralhome.com.
