Ronald Joseph Magness

Ronald Joseph “Ron” Magness passed away peacefully on November 18, 2024. Born in Evansville, Indiana, Ron dedicated his life to serving his country and his family.

He attended Memorial High School in Evansville, playing football and was on the 1958 state championship team and All-City team.

Ron was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving in Vietnam and receiving an honorable discharge.

After attending University of Evansville and then University of Cincinnati to obtain his Master’s degree, Ron worked as a marketing executive for many years for corporations like RJ Reynolds, Del Monte and M&M Mars.

Ron enjoyed tennis, golf, dancing with Ruthie, and watching Notre Dame football. Ron lit up any room he entered with his smile, joy, and sense of humor.

Ron was predeceased by his parents, Eutra and Minnie, sister Pat, his first wife Marilyn, and his daughter Amy.

He is survived by his loving wife Ruth Nonnenkamp, son-in-law Peter Baird, daughters Elizabeth Coskren (Kevin), Sarah Cash (Audwin), and Ruth’s children Catherine, Robert Nonnenkamp (Karen Stohr) and Barbara Lankford (Keith), and nephews Todd Russell (Jane) and Joe Russell. Ron was a proud grandfather to 11 grandchildren, who affectionately called him “RonPa” and they brought immense happiness to his life.

Ron’s joy filled the hearts of everyone he met, and he will be dearly missed.

The family is deeply grateful for the caregivers at Barton House Memory Care Center who lovingly cared for Ron as their own family.

A Funeral Mass will be at 10AM Saturday, November 23, 2024 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 501 Cherrywood Road, Louisville, KY, 40207.

Ron will be laid to rest in Holy Cross Cemetery in Indianapolis, IN at 1pm on Monday, November 25, 2024.
