Mildred L. Purichia, 89 of Indianapolis passed away December 6, 2019. She was born January 31, 1930 to Robert and Zola Lambert who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her son, Joseph S. Purichia; grandson, David J. Newsom; great grandson, Brady H. Capps; sister, Norma Faye Thompson; brother, Lowell "Ed" Lambert. Mildred attended Marwood Baptist Church. She was a devoted mother, grandma and great grandma. She was an avid fan of the Indianapolis 500. She enjoyed dancing, singing, traveling, meeting other people and most of all spending time with her family whom she proudly bragged about all the time. Survivors include her children, Terry Newsom, Trina Purichia, Catherine (Mark) Nuckolls, David (Teresa) Purichia; 5 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mildred never met a stranger. Everyone who met her loved her immediately. She always had a smile on her face and a song in her heart. She never complained about anything and said there was someone worse off than her. Mildred always saw the "Good" in everyone.
She worked at Link Belt, Woolworths, Stephen Decatur Elementary School cafeteria, Roslyn Bakery and her favorite, happiest and her last job was working at the Indianapolis Airport in the Paradise Gift Shop.
Services for Mildred are 10am Thursday, December 12, 2019 at the Usher Funeral Home, 2313 West Washington Street, Indianapolis, IN 46222. Burial will follow in Floral Park Cemetery. Friends may call on the family from 4pm-8pm Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at the funeral home and from 9am until the time of services on Thursday.
