Lawrence "Larry" Kaesel Obituary

Lawrence E. Kaesel (Larry), age 76, lifelong resident of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on December 17, 2025, at Aperion Care in Greenfield, Indiana.

Born on July 20, 1949 in Indianapolis, Lawrence was the only child of Mary E. Kaesel.

He graduated from Arsenal Tech High School and studied business through La Salle University Vancouver. He spent most of his career working in sales and bill collections, retiring from Statewide Credit Association in the early 2000s.

Lawrence was well known in the Indianapolis area for his passion for karaoke, especially his spot-on Elvis Presley impersonations. He earned the affectionate title of the “resident Elvis” at clubs across the city, especially at The Living Room downtown. He also performed for charitable causes, including singing from the Soldiers and Sailors Monument to raise funds for Riley Hospital for Children—a performance that reflected both his talent and generosity. He always tried to end the night with a gospel song.

Lawrence attended Lake View Church, where he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior in 1976. He was fond of many television ministries.

Lawrence married Doris H. Johnson (Gates) on April 10, 1982. They shared many happy years together until her passing in 2013. He later married Sally Rogers (Mingee) in 2015, and they remained together until her passing in August 2025.

He is survived by his stepdaughter, Sandra (Shannan) Martin, from his first marriage, and by cousins Linda Tierney, Jackie Rich, and Tom Johnson, all of Westfield, Indiana.

A closed casket funeral service will be held at Floral Park Cemetery on Monday, December 22, 2025 at 11am.

The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to Ben Adams, a longtime friend and former landlord, who visited Lawrence weekly and played an instrumental role in supporting both Larry and Sally in their later years.

Larry will be remembered for his voice, his kindness, and his unforgettable ability to make people smile—whether through a song, a story, or a simple “thank you, thank you very much.”
