John Ballinger Blaydoe, 84, died February 19, 2020 at the Hickory Creek At Sunset, a caring and loving community in Greencastle, Indiana. He was born on November 8, 1935 in Birmingham, Alabama as the son of Louis and Cora Jane Blaydoe. John served in the US Army and was discharged in 1959. He served as the Fire Chief of the Eminence Indiana Volunteer Fire Department. He was a member of Masons, Scottish Rite, Murat Shrine, the Flying Fez, Gatling Gun Club, and Kentucky Colonels, as well as the American Legion. He worked in a variety of jobs before founding his own company; Blaydoe Service, in the industrial burner field. An avid pilot, John loved flying, playing Santa Claus, marching in parades, working at the Indiana State Fair and Indianapolis 500 with the Shriners, and serving his community. John is survived by his loving companion Frances Sparks, his brothers Norman and Louis Blaydoe, his children: Marc, Corann (Westerfield), Michael, Faith (Kirby), and Kimberly (Hosburgh), Frances’ sons James and Robert, 19 grandchildren and great grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, February 26, 2020, at 2:00pm at Usher Funeral Home – 2313 W. Washington Street, Indianapolis, IN 46222.
