Jean Ann May, 75, of Brownsburg passed away peacefully at Life’s Journey Hospice on Friday, January 31st, 2025 at 3:17pm surrounded by her family. Jeanne was born on January 2nd, 1950to Gene and Opal May who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death was her brother, Stephen May.
A lifelong westsider, Jeanne graduated from Northwest High School in 1967. Soon after graduating she married her high school sweetheart, Robert Stephanoff, who she would always say was a better ex-husband than he was a husband. She remained very grateful to him for the gift of her two daughters, Angela Stephanoff and Amy Stephanoff (Moe).
Jeanne retired from Verizon (previously GTE) in 2009 where she was a Supervisor. During her later years she proudly completed her college degree, receiving a Bachelor of Science in Management in 2004.
Her most proud achievement in addition to her daughters were her grandchildren. Buddy, Shelby, Connor, Cooper, Sammy, Brylee, Carson, and Camryn meant the world to her. The apple of her eye though was definitely her great-grandson Harold IV. Mom and Memaw were her favorite titles and she was amazing at both.
Throughout her life, her Catholic faith was very important to her. She spent years volunteering at the Catholic Crisis Centerand Little Angel Gowns. Other interests included knitting, watching The Golden Girls, traveling to Anna Maria Island, baking/cooking, watching WWE with her grandsons, March Madness, playing Old Maid and board games with her family. She was very hard to beat at Scrabble. Her favorite candy was Chuckles and those who knew her know she made a delicious Chop Suey. She was obsessed with organization and never met a spreadsheet she didn’t like. Her daughters suffered through many roadtrips to the nearest Frisch’s Big Boy as well.
A visitation will be held at Usher Funeral Home (2313 W. Washington St., Indianapolis, IN 46222) on Thursday, February 6th from 4-7pm. Funeral service will take place on Friday,February 7th at St. Christopher Catholic Church (5301 W. 16th St.,Speedway, IN 46224) at 10am.
