It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Gilbert "Butch" Earl Coyle, 84 of Avon. He passed away on November 11, 2025 surrounded by family. He is survived by his wife, Pam; sister, Vicki Kaufman; son, Chris (Angie) Coyle; daughter, Carrie (David) Tuttle; stepchildren, Staci (Michael) Turner and Chad Smith; grandchildren, McKayla (Grant) Murphy, Mayson Lewis, Brice Cheetham, Colin Cheetham. Butch graduated from Broad Ripple High School in 1959, where he excelled in athletics. In 1966 he enlisted in the Marine Corps and served until 1969. He was stationed in Japan prior to the Vietnam War and later he was stationed in Lake Mead, Nevada. Following his discharge from the Marines he had several jobs. Then in 1969 he joined the Indianapolis Police Department where he received numerous commendations. He retired from the Indianapolis Police Department March 30, 1990 with the rank of Sergeant. After his retirement he worked in the Civil Service Office for the Marion County Sherriff's Department. After leaving the Sherriff's Department he worked as a security officer for the Brickyard Crossing Golf Course.
