Pastor Earnest W Garner, 94 of Indianapolis went home to be with the Lord on January 25, 2026. Pastor Garner was born September 13, 1931 in Gilliland, Texas to Melvin and Mayola (Moore) Garner who have preceded him in passing. He was also preceded in passing by his wife of 62 years, Jewel Garner, his daughter, Mary Myers and his grandson, Douglas Garner. He was the Pastor at the Friendly Church of the Nazarene on the westside of Indianapolis for 58 years. He had also pastored at churches in Edinburgh, Indiana and Carthage, Indiana. He retired after 30 years of service from Chrysler where he had worked in production. Pastor Garner was a kind and faithful man and a friend to many. He is survived by his son, David (Pam) Garner; daughter, Elsie Richardson; brother, Bob Garner; sister, Ola Faye Goff; grandchildren, Gary (Rebecca) Richardson, Ryan (Andrea) Garner, Andrew (Emma) Myers; 6 great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Pastor Garner will be at 12pm Saturday, January 31, 2026 at the Fortville Church of the Nazarene, 701 S. Maple Street, Fortville, IN 46040. Burial will follow in Gravel Lawn Cemetery. Visitation is from 4pm-8pm Friday, January 30, 2026 at the Usher Funeral Home, and from 10am until the time of services on Saturday, January 31, 2026 at the Fortville Church of the Nazarene.
