Charles Hohlweg, 93 of Indianapolis passed away September 7, 2021. He was born February 9, 1928 to Fred and Edna (Workman) Hohlweg Qualls. Known as "Hepcat" Charles grew up on the westside and attended George Washington High School prior to entering the Army during WW II. He also served in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. During this time he was stationed in Denver, Colorado where he met and married the love of his life, Maxine Newcomb. They returned to Indianapolis following his discharge. They were married 66 years until her death in 2018. Charles "Bowlegs" worked in construction before becoming a locksmith. He was kind-hearted and generous, a trait he learned from growing up during the great depression.
Charles was preceded in death by his wife Maxine. He is survived by his daughter Sandra Hohlweg and son-in-law James Gibson.
Funeral services for Charles are 12pm Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at the Usher Funeral Home. Graveside services are a 1:30pm Tuesday at Lincoln Memory Gardens, Whitestown, IN. Friends may call on the family from 11am -12pm Tuesday at the funeral home. Per request of the family, masks are required for attendance. Online condolences may be offered at usherfuneralhome.com
