Agnes "Loretta" Chinn Obituary

We are sad to announce Agnes “Loretta” Chinn, née Wethington, reached the end of her full and wonderful life Wednesday, November 30, 2022 in Indianapolis at the age of 88.

She was born on Saturday, October 16, 1934 in Clementsville, Casey County, Kentucky to Andrew Gibbins and Mary Edith Wethington.
She was greeted in heaven by her parents; brothers Joseph Evan Wethington, Jim Wethington, Lewis Wethington, and George Martin Wethington; sisters Margaret Wethington, Ruth Ann Martin, Helen Wethington, Lamberta Rose Goode, and Maeola Bland; husband Harry “Jack” Chinn; and great-granddaughter Kaley.
She will be dearly missed by her children Elizabeth “Karen” Mills, Phillip Hayes, David (wife Suzanne) Hayes, and Judith Hastings; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and extended family and friends.
While Loretta’s long and rich life cannot be covered here in full, here are a few highlights:
In her retirement, she donated her time and energy to community work. She was very involved with St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and the Hawthorne Community Center, always participating in trash pickup, meal trains, St. Anthony’s annual festival, and so much more.
Throughout the neighborhood, Loretta was known for her green thumb. She could make anything grow, and she could frequently be found sitting on her front porch visiting with neighbors and enjoying her flower garden.
The doors of her home were always open. Friends and family were always welcome, and grandchildren in particular could expect a drawer full of toys, the world’s best macaroni and cheese, and lots and lots of love.
Every year, she looked forward to the “Homecoming” in Casey County, Kentucky, where she got to reunite with siblings, cousins, nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends at her sister’s farm. Staying connected to her family and her hometown was important to her; she rarely missed a gathering.
She was devoted to God and St. Anthony’s, and they were devoted to her. She felt truly blessed to be a part of the community, and we are certain God is greeting her with open arms.
While we celebrate her love, faith, and life, there is no doubt her passing has left a hole in our family and our hearts. She will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, we would appreciate donations to St. Anthony’s Catholic Church or the Alzheimer’s Association.
A memorial mass  will be held on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at St Anthony Catholic Church.
