She attended St. Joseph's College in Rensselaer, where she earned her degrees in Journalism and Theology in 1968.  She put her degrees to work at Our Sunday Visitor newspaper in Huntington, Indiana, before being inspired to join the Peace Corps.  As a Peace Corps Volunteer, she was sent to the small African country of Lesotho, where she lived among the Basotho people from 1971-1973 and taught English at the village school.  Upon her return to Indiana, she continued working in journalism at the Lafayette Journal and Courier until 1978.

Fifty years ago, on January 2, 1976, she married Jim at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Lafayette.  She was a member of St. Louis de Montfort Catholic Church in Fishers and has been blessed to spend the last years of her life under the loving care of the Little Sisters of the Poor at St. Augustine Home.
