Myra Jo Albrecht, born June 12, 1953, passed away on October 25, 2026. She was the oldest
daughter of Thomas and Ann Albrecht and a woman whose life was defined by her generous heart,
her love for her family, her devotion to her faith, and her willingness to always be there for others.
Myra dedicated 45 years of her professional life to serving as a medical secretary for St. Augustine's /
Little Sisters of the Poor. Her caring nature extended well beyond her career, as she also volunteered
with Big Brothers Big Sisters and Special Olympics. She was a longtime member of Beta Sigma Phi,
a sorority that was a meaningful part of her life. It filled her life with lasting friendships, wonderful
memories, and sisters whom she formed a bond with that she treasured deeply.
A devoted Catholic, Myra was a member of St. Christopher’s Catholic Church, and a longtime
member of Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church. Her faith was reflected in the way she lived each day,
always looking for ways to help and care for those around her.
Family meant everything to Myra. She had a special place in her heart for her nieces and nephews,
as well as the many children she welcomed into her life and treated as family. She was the kind of
person who showed up, whether it meant attending a sporting event, giving someone a ride, or
helping a family in need.
Myra enjoyed the simple pleasures that made life special. She loved reading books, watching cooking
shows, spending time in the kitchen, and having conversations with just about anyone. She was also
a devoted sports fan who loved the Indianapolis Colts, College football, and College basketball. She
always enjoyed March Madness and took pride in her bracket picks.
Above all, Myra will be remembered for her kindness, her generosity, her love of family, and the
countless ways she showed up for others. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion and service,
along with memories that will continue to bring comfort and smiles to those who knew and loved her.
Myra was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Ann Albrecht, and her beloved sister,
Marsha.
She leaves behind her loving family, including her surviving siblings, Julie Shinn, Thomas Albrecht,
and Chris Albrecht, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, all of whom held a
special place in her heart.
A visitation for Myra Jo Albrecht will be held on November 7, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. -12:30pm at Usher
Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at West Ridge Cemetery on 21st Street.
