Obituary

Loren Dale “Pete” Cudworth, born February 17, 1941, in Goodland, Indiana, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2026, at the age of 85.

Pete lived a life marked by service, dedication, hard work, and family. Early in his adult life, he proudly served in the United States Air Force, where he worked on and around B-52 bombers. His military service was an important part of his life, and he carried with him the pride, discipline, friendships, and memories that came from serving his country.

Following his military service, Pete built a long and dedicated career with GTE, working as a lineman for more than 25 years. His work was demanding and required strength, skill, determination, and resourcefulness, qualities that remained a part of who he was throughout his life.

While Pete was often content to blend into the background, he was always there for the moments that mattered. He showed up for birthdays, holidays, family gatherings, and all the milestones that became treasured memories. He had a particularly soft spot for the granddaughters in his family and quietly took great pride in watching them grow.

Pete was known for finding creative solutions and making use of whatever was available. He had a knack for coming up with unexpected ideas and finding new uses for old things. Even something as simple as a garage chair could become something memorable when Pete was involved.

He also loved puzzles. If there was a puzzle on the kitchen table, there was a good chance Pete would be sitting down with it early in the morning, working on it before everyone else was awake. He enjoyed the quiet challenge and satisfaction of figuring things out.

Christmas was another special time for Pete. Although he wasn’t particularly interested in receiving gifts himself, he never missed Christmas morning. He was content to sit back and quietly watch the grandkids open theirs, taking pleasure in seeing their excitement. Those simple traditions are now among the memories his family will treasure most.

Pete was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Ray (Delores) Cudworth; his sisters, Mary Lou (Marvin) Miller and Eva Mae (Walt) Sells; and his daughter, Bonnie Garin.

He is survived by his brothers, Lloyd (Betty) Cudworth and Jay (Judy) Cudworth; sisters, Joy Hensley and Jeanne Price; and his three sons, Jeff (Diane) Cudworth, Steven (Courtney) Cudworth, and Troy Cudworth.

Pete also leaves behind eight grandchildren: Paige (Joe) Casabona, Shannon, Briar, and Katelynn Garin, Chance, Landon, Callie, and Chloe Cudworth; two great-grandchildren, Zoe and Amelia Casabona; and many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

Pete leaves behind a lifetime of memories and a family who will carry those memories with them always. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
