Herbert Ray Carpenter, 74 of Indianapolis passed away Sunday, January 12, 2025, He was born on Monday, October 9, 1950 to Melvin Thomas Carpenter and Marjorie Janett (Holland) Carpenter in Indianapolis.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Melvin Thomas Carpenter and Marjorie Janett (Holland) Carpenter, brother Melvin Thomas Carpenter Jr.; sisters Linda Chastain Carpenter, Mildred (Millie) Carpenter.

He is survived by his loving wife Barbara Gay (Holt) Carpenter, daughters Neeli Rae Hagans (husband Tim), Sarah Jessica Carpenter (fiancé Kenny), Hayley Starr Carpenter Arney (husband Cody), sons David Weaver, Scotty Weaver, brothers Donald Eugene Carpenter, Andy Carpenter, Jeff Carpenter, sisters Amelia (Tootie) Brinkley, Marge Pate, 7 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, and extended family and friends.

Visitation will be held 12 PM to 2:30 PM, Monday, January 20, 2025, at Usher Funeral Home, 2313 W Washington St., and the funeral services will be at 2:30 pm at Usher Funeral Home. Burial will be in Floral Park Cemetery. Online condolences may be offered at usherfuneralhome.com
