Dana "Rodney"
Vance
December 6, 1954 – December 12, 2023
Rodney Vance lost his long battle with cancer on Tuesday, December 12th of 2023. He died peacefully with his wife Beverly, daughter Jennifer, and grandson James by his side. His last words were "good-night Bev, I love you turn the light out."
He was a contractor by trade. Many times, I watched him take a yellow legal pad, draw up a material list and a bid for a job in just a few hours.
He never liked to waste. He gardened, built most of his furniture. An inventor to the core he always chose his own invention over a store-bought item. Once he borrowed a tent to take his grandson camping at the fishing lake. The bag of poles was missing, most would have packed and left, not him. He found some rope and tied the tent to trees.
The only time he would splurge was to pay for his daughter's schooling, bought a scooter for her, or surprise his grand-kids with a go kart.
He loved the Indy 500, motorcycles, fishing, and lending a helping hand.
He is preceded in death by his father Floyd Elwood Vance Sr. and mother Agnes Dean Vance.
He is survived by his wife Beverly Isenhower Vance, daughter Jennifer Vance Pruitt (James Pruitt Sr.) grandson James Pruitt Jr. (Destiny Pruitt), granddaughter Rebecca Pruit, great grandson Henry James Pruitt, and brother Floyd Vance Jr., and Anthony Vance.
