Mary P (Schenk) Davis

Mary Patricia (Schenk)Davis 78 of Indianapolis passed away February 4, 2018.  She was born June 21, 1939 in Indianapolis to Edward and Helen (Murphy) Schenk who have preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Michael.

Mary attended St. Anthony Grade School and then went on to attend St. John Academy on scholarship.  While at St. John Academy Mary was involved with many activities at the school.  She was in choral group, vocal quartet and was elected class Treasurer both her junior and senior years.  Her activities outside the school included being a member of the Indianapolis Mayor’s Teen Council which met monthly to discuss teen issues.  She was also received a Citation of Merit from the MDA Association.  Mary was also a member of the Cathedral High School theater group and was a member of the Cathedral cheerleading squad.  In May of her senior Mary was chosen to be a Princess in the Indianapolis 500 Parade.  Mary always told her children they should enjoy their school years as much as she did because they were some of the most enjoyable times of their life

Mary worked for the State of Indiana and was a volunteer at Westview Hospital. 

She is survived by her children, Donald (Beth) Davis, Dale (Wendy) Davis, Paul (Sara) Davis, Patsy (Brian) Byrd, Mary Jean Hadley; sisters, Helen and Rita; brother, Edward; 12 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild along with several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Calling hours for Mary are from 4-8 pm Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at the Usher Funeral Home.  A rosary services will be held at 7:30pm.  Online condolences may be offered at usherfuneralhome.com
