Sheila Rowland

Sheila Rowland was born to James Earl Rowland (preceded) and Juanita Johnson-Rowland (preceded) on March 4th 1958 at General Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana.  As a child Sheila was described as the “Fun” sister and always the “Life of the Party”. Sheila attended elementary school IPS #69 and went on to attend Broad Ripple High School and still remained friends with a lot of her classmates until her departure on August 30th 2016.Sheila attended New Bethel Baptist Church as a child and later Attended Alpha and Omega: Church of the Living God Christian church as well as New Haven Baptist Church.
Sheila was devoted mother, sister and friend. She gave birth to her eldest son Andre Rowland on April 7th, 1974.  Andre, described Sheila as his “Rider”.  Taking on himself and a host of neighborhood friends who all referred to Sheila as “Mama”. She would be there for her family through the good and the bad and give you the shirt off her back. Sheila and James (BB) Burnett would later welcome her second son Jamaal Rowland on June 9th, 1986. 
Sheila was loved by anyone who had the chance to meet her. A loyal and strong willed woman anyone who was graced with her presence has at least one fawn memory of her. Sheila loved to build “Good” memories and take pictures capsulizing her life and those around her. Never judgmental, she was always a part of everything Good and Beneficial to Life. Taking on being a mother and aunt to a host of young people including nieces, nephews, and friends. Her friends describe her as Loyal and trustworthy. You could count on Sheila to be there for anything. A lift to the store or a huge engagement she was fixture in the lives of many.
Sheila will be greatly missed.
Sheila is preceded in death by mother, Juanita Johnson – Rowland and father, James Earl Rowland , brother, David Rowland and niece, Tosha Rowland-Burnside. Sheila is survived by, sons, Andre Rowland and Jamaal Rowland, sisters Michelle Elliott and Stephanie Rowland-Phinisee.  Grandchildren Destiney Bennett, Raylin Taylor, Isis Rowland , Nija Rowland-Taylor, Zain Rowland- Taylor, JaMya Rowland, JaLyssa Rowland. Great grandson Jordan Sean Miller II, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Memorial Service will be held at Noon on Thursday September 8, 2016 at Alpha and Omega Church of the Living God located 1703 Ralston Avenue Indianapolis, IN. 46218.
