Paul T Nelson

Paul T. Nelson, 62 of Avon, passed away January 26, 2018. Paul was born the youngest of three children on August 21, 1955 in Joliet, IL to Carl and Rita Nelson. Paul was a 1973 graduate of Joliet West High School, where he played baseball and was Editor for his Senior Yearbook. Following high school, Paul went to the University of Illinois in Champaign where he joined the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity. Paul graduated in 1977 with a degree in Marketing and moved to Denver, CO, beginning his nearly 41 year career in the Insurance business. By 1979, Paul found himself in Indianapolis where he met the love of his life and wife of 38 years, Sue (Glassing) Nelson where they both were working at Hartford Insurance. Most recently Paul worked for Pekin Insurance as a Field Manager.

Paul was a former parishioner at St. Anthony (Indianapolis) and current parishioner at St. Susanna Catholic Church (Plainfield). In his spare time, Paul enjoyed fishing, crossword puzzles and was a voracious reader. He was an avid sports fan; getting to see his beloved Cubs, Bears and Colts each win championships in his lifetime.

Paul is survived by his wife, Sue (Glassing) Nelson; son, Christopher Nelson; daughter, Kimberly Luhman (Jeffery); granddaughters, Macy Nelson and Maegan Luhman. Surviving also; brother, Terrance Nelson. Preceding him in death are his parents, Carl and Rita (Cleary) Nelson and sister, Anita (Nelson) Storie.

A Memorial Mass for Paul will be celebrated at 12pm Saturday, February 3, 2018 at St. Susanna Catholic Church (1210 East Main Street, Plainfield, IN 46168.)  Friends may call on the family from 10:30am until the time of the services on Saturday at the church. A luncheon will be held at St. Susanna immediately following the memorial mass.
